With a lot of Carp starting to spawn, Mr van Wyk still manages to land a 14.65kg common Personal best (PB).

Trip report from the Specimen Tackle team:

Friday 9 September 2022 Team Specimen Tackle Members, Stefan de Beer and Stefan van Wyk arrived at Roodekoppies Dam. As planned we each placed a rod at 7 to 8 meter water, 5 to 6 meter water and 3 to 4 meter water. The first night passed without any run.

During the night we could hear the fish splashing in the shallow water. 04:30 Saturday 10 September we woke up, waiting for sunrise, scouting the water for fish showing.

With a lot of Carp starting to spawn we decided to each move a rod to the shallow water. We did some feature finding & found some clear spots in thick weed. The move payed off soon after placing the rods with Mr van Wyk landing a 14.85kg common Personal best (PB) on a Mulberry tigernut topped with a orange CC Moore Acid Pear 12mm popup.

Stefan de Beer also managed to land a beautiful 12,6kg potbelly common on a Rod Hutchinson purple Mulberry Florentine 12mm Pop-up.
